First Motorcycle Ride Of The Year

My main goal for 2016 is to travel as much as I can. I've merged with this my long standing wish to visit the various National Parks of India. As a result, I've been to Keoladeo National Park (Bharatpur, Rajasthan) and Jim Corbett National Park (Ramnagar, Uttrakhand) so far.

I wish do to most of my travelling on my bike because travelling in any other way just does not have that same sense of adventure. Cruising along on two wheels has this addictive quality to it that has me hooked. As a result, I went on my first bike ride of the year to Renuka Lake (about 3.5 hours, 160km away from Chandigarh), a place I've wanted to re-visit since the last time that I was there many, many years ago.

About Renuka Lake

It is regarded as the embodiment of Renukaji, the wife of sage Jamadagini and mother of Parshuram, one of the ten Avtars of Lord Vishnu. Shaped like the profile of a woman, the lake is the largest in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is fed by underground springs and the surrounding hills are padded by lush forests that support a large variety of plant and animal life. Boating and trekking are the additional attractions. It is a perfect year around destination.

Route

Chandigarh - Kumarhatti - Sarahan - Jamta - Renuka - Nahan - Kala Amb - Barwala - Panchkula - Chandigarh

Let me tell you that the Kumarhatti - Nahan highway ( State Highway 2) is one of the best highways I've been on in a while. It is great for riding with it's well paved wide roads, minimal traffic and scenic views a plenty. Loved it!

Now, I'll stop my jibber jabber and let my photographs explain the rest.
